Dermot is a programme manager with the University of Bradford who over the last three years led the delivery of the Digital Health Enterprise Zone programme. With a strong project management, education and IT background, he has run his own technology business and been a consultant before joining the University. He is a strong believer in innovation and enterprise as drivers for the economy of Bradford, his adopted and family home of the last 24 years.
The commitment to Bradford and a love of all things political led Dermot to co-found and host Bradford Politics in the Pub (@BD_PiP) in 2015. A group that holds regular public meetings to discuss important political issues in a non-partisan setting. With guests from politics, academia, journalism and the community, it uses an irreverent style to help people break from their social media echo chambers and listen to different views.
As well as providing an interesting and engaging midweek evening out in Bradford. Previous events have demonstrated a strong interest in issues such as devolution, transport, Brexit and regeneration – things that affect the future of this city.
